This is an example of Donnie's inability to see the big picture. He made a statement that he thought would bolster his narrative on the murder of Alex Pretti in the short term. His thinking is so shallow that he couldn't see the bigger picture that he was undermining one of the cornerstones of Right Wing politics, the 2nd Amendment.
