One must also consider here the gross misjudgment of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in awarfing the Prize for 2025 to Machado.
This woman thinks the prize is s bauble to be traded with a malignant narcissist in exchange for political favour - in other words, for power.
It would be appropriate to see those members of the Committee who voted for Machado now resign their positions.

@SchoolBelle It would be equally appropriate for the child whining about not being given a shiny bauble to resign.

@SchoolBelle Wait, did she agree to give it to him ? Or did he just ask ? Trump is not above making such requests. He once threatened to cut off aid to the Ukraine unless Zelenskyy used his contacts to help him investigate Hunter Biden.
There’s no indication President Z ever complied, but the fact that our president would even ask shows Trump’s lack of character.
If Machado thinks acquiescing to a narcissist might help save her country she’s probably mistaken, but remember, it wasn’t her idea.

@bijouxbroussard Trump is not interested in "saving" Venezuela, whatever that might mean.
Machado appears to be a mini-trumpian right wing populist. She is right up his street, except she is a little too old, a little too unblonde and just a little too "latin".

@SchoolBelle I admit, I don’t know her. She appears to be whom the Venezuelans wanted in place of Maduro, and they have the right to their choice without U.S. interference, especially from someone like Trump who announces that he can be bought. Of course I know Trump doesn’t really care about his own country, much less any other. But I guess I assumed Machado does care about Venezuela. I still don’t know if you’re saying this about her because maybe she agreed with Trump ? I wasn’t aware she had.
Or are you Venezuelan ? That’s who would know Machado’s background for certain.

@bijouxbroussard No, I am observing from afar and judging her by her own words.
Technically, she is not the choice of the Venezuelan people. She was prevented from running in the last election (stolen by Maduro). It is generally recognised that the election was won by Edmundo Gonzales.
Had she been able to run (safely) there is little doubt that she would have won.
(I am English but consider myself first and foremost European.)
