Trump just said the quiet part out loud "Venezuela took US oil" and "we want it back"

I thought they were blowing up drug boats, were those oil smugglers?

Our primary conflict with Venezuela has always been about oil. It's been a reaction against the Venezuelan government's desire to have control over its own oil resources. Which is unthinkable to us because all of Latin America is our "backyard" according to the Monroe Doctrine.
