Federal judge tosses $15 billion Trump vs. New York Times case, invoking Rule 8. Then he goes scorched earth on Trump's lawyers

tl:dr - Judge just told Trump "I ain't reading all that shit, go try again."

The order starts with the phrase "As every member of the bar of every federal court knows (or is presumed to know)..."

I believe that's legalese for "Go get your fucking shinebox!"

The Judge struck the lawsuit sua sponte (on his own, without a motion from the defendant.

I'm sure it's unfair and biased, probably unheard of, for a Judge to require Trump's lawyers to comply with the most elemental rule of pleading, but it's also pretty rare for anyone but a semiliterate pro se plaintiff get their pleading stricken.

The sanctions award won't be in the billions, but it'll probably be something.

“A complaint is not a megaphone for public relations or a podium for a passionate oration at a political rally,” Merryday wrote in a four-page order. “This action will begin, will continue, and will end in accord with the rules of procedure and in a professional and dignified manner.”

The judge gave Trump 28 days to file an amended complaint that should not exceed 40 pages.
