"This is so crazy that the people around him aren't saying 'dude, you can't do this.'"

Heard from a protestor in Washington DC, on the news this evening.

But this is what many of us have been asking ourselves since the current US President took power. Why are so many enabling him and kowtowing to his every destructive, autocratic whim?

I am not trolling here -- just genuinely puzzled. As always, I'm looking on from Canada wondering what is going on with our big, powerful, newly threatening neighbour.

I have been wondering how so many of my countrymen took leave of their senses. 😳

@bijouxbroussard A majority of our population did not vote for him
@bookerdana True, but many didn’t vote at all, which still helped him.

@bijouxbroussard I can but vote once,and in a blue state,it hardly makes a diifference

@bookerdana I definitely understand. We did what we could legally do as citizens.

When people say, almost proudly, "I don’t vote", I don’t get into it with them (it won’t change their minds). But I admit, my respect for them drops a little, because from my perspective they’re saying they don’t care enough about our system to do the bare minimum. And that apathy has helped people like Trump get elected, even more certainly than his cultists.

@bijouxbroussard And this was a pretty clear choice,though the majority felt they didn't know Harris,but Project 2025 had been leaked it was clear
