That's why I think all these tariff negotiations between the US and other countries are nothing but wasted time for all concerned. I think that Trump will be history come the mid-terms in the USA, which I think happens in about 6 months from now.

@swirlie And I think the right wing think tanks are furiously working on how to win with 37% of the vote. And they will find a way. At least enough to keep him there until he is past his use by date. I see where you are going wrong. You still believe in the US voter..As for the tariff stories. The ones pushed inside the US are vastly different from the ones reported in the other nations. Like Britain and Japan. The only concession Trump is getting are "Dead Horses". The Japan wont buy American cars at any price. They are unsuited to the cities and frankly, junk. They will buy Mercs and BMWs. So a tariff deal there doesnt matter..Equally deals on rice and grains are subject to inspections American product wont pass.. So thats a waste of time. The same goes for any EU deals.. And one day after a deal with Australia was done to finally allow the poxy American product in (Note The major burger francises all add Australian beef to their burgers to reduce the fat content and improve the texture and taste) it is announced that mexico is fighting a new screw worm parasite and shipping infected cattle to be slaughtered in the US.. That deal will be in the shredder soon.. Its all a puppet show and Trump is the puppet. He wont be there too much longer..😷

I lost my faith in the US voter in 2016, which is why I've advocated ever since then that the choosing of the President of the USA should be taken out of the hands of the American public because they've proven themselves incompetent to make that decision.

@swirlie I cant argue with any of that. However 2016 had no winning candidate, any more than 2024 did..But there is now a serious chance that the world will have to get along without the USA from here on. There are just too many variables to predict what will happen within the US. But it isnt going to end well for the vast majority.😷

I know that PM Mark Carney has already been publicly briefing Canadians on this very prospect of Canada identifying itself working in concert with Europe and the Pacific Rim, while literally divorcing Canada's old past relationship from the USA on all levels of commerce, something he's quoted as saying "should have happened 30 years ago anyway".

@swirlie Thirty years ago is about right. Thats when the US economy was already smelling south of cheese and corruption had taken over. But I think its the frog in the pot syndrome again. Canada was deeply reliance on its massive neighbour and simply put up with the gradual decline in ethics and transparency. Thank Donald for arriving like a drunlk in a whorehouse and yelling at Canada to "drop 'em and grab your ankles" Canadians finally turned around and kneed him in the groin. @swirlie I suspect something similar is underway in Mexico too..Certainly most other nations and trade blocs are turning away. BRACS + the EU now account for more trade than the $US, and Donald is announcing imaginary trade deals with anyone.. Even trying to take credit for putting cane sugar back into coke. The Epstein thing has him rattled..😷

The Epstein thing caused some photos to surface involving Donald's daughter Ivanka, which I think will have Ivanka wondering where to hide next. The whole MAGA base is wanting answers for this stuff and they're the ones most vocal about getting it.
