Trump Administration Live Updates: President Brushes Off Hegseth’s Sharing of Sensitive Military Data

New York Times reports:

Hegseth chat: President Trump defended his defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, after a New York Times report that Mr. Hegseth had shared sensitive military information in a group chat that included his wife and brother. Mr. Trump called concerns over Mr. Hegseth’s sharing of military information a “waste of time.” Mr. Hegseth, who’d also discussed the plans for strikes on Yemen in a chat that included a journalist, said he and the president were “on the same page all the way.”

Attacking the Fed: Mr. Trump renewed his attacks on the chairman of the Federal Reserve, Jerome H. Powell, calling him “a major loser” as he continues his campaign for the central bank to lower interest rates. Stocks slumped, bonds sold off and the U.S. dollar continued to lose ground on Monday.

Pressure on El Salvador: Four Democratic lawmakers have arrived in El Salvador to press for the release of a Maryland resident who was wrongfully deported to the Central American nation last month, setting off a legal fight with the Trump administration.
