President Zelenskyy refused to be Dictator Putin's puppet, and his people's traitor. Quite the opposite of Donald, the Playmobil president.

@EarthlingWiseMeanwhile Putin has been in power for 26 years with no credible elections and has murdered or jailed all his opponents. You will also get arrested in Russia for criticizing Putin.
@JimboSaturn Indeed. What I don't know is what makes Trump kowtow to the Russian dictator, is it love or is it fear?
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@EarthlingWise Admiration. He loves the idea of rich white men running a country.
ImNotHungry · 36-40, M
@JimboSaturn Well it's not Putin that's espoused by the west as the paragon of western values, that would be Zelensky. Perhaps he should lead by example. Little dictator Zelensky is about to lose his entire country unless he has elections.
@ImNotHungry It is Putin who has our president as head of his fan club, however. We have no room to criticize anyone else.
ImNotHungry · 36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard It was fine when Biden constantly complained about Putin being a dictator, so I have no issue with Zelensky being called out—especially since he has been presented in Western media as the paragon and defender of Western values. He must live up to the fantasy he was marketed as .
@ImNotHungry But Putin is a dictator. Biden wasn’t wrong in that assessment. Putin been the leader of his country for 25 years; apparently there’s no limit to the number of times he can run. And his opponents tend to disappear. Zelensky has been president of the Ukraine since 2019, and seems to be who his people have trusted during the conflict with Russia.
ImNotHungry · 36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard He is now president of Ukraine by Martial law. He needs to hold elections and again, even if I grant that Putin is a dictator, that doesn't mean Zelensky gets a pass. It is not Putin thrust into media as an upholder of western values. That's Zelensky and as such he should hold elections.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@ImNotHungry Zelensky is doing exactly what his countries Constitution allows him to do. During periods of marshal law they can't hold elections. Can you even imagine trying to hold elections when most of your country is an active war zone?

Why don't we do the intelligent thing, lets make Russia get the fuck out of the Ukraine, then they can drop marshal law and hold elections. If after the war ends, and Russia is gone, Zelensky still hasn't held free elections, I am happy to argue he should as well.

Lets just not kid ourselves that it would be sensible or even possible to hold them now if he wanted to, which he can't because their Constitution says they can't.
@EarthlingWise Superb post! Very eloquent summary!

@Pherick Actually that is false. The constitution allows for the suspension of elections for the Rada but not Presidential elections. Even one of the authors of the constitution called him out on this.

Also Ukraine has been in a state of civil war since 2014 and yet that was not a problem.

The reason he doesn't want elections is he has done the total opposite of what he promised when he was elected.

And even according to American sources his poll numbers are around 16%.

He has also started threatening his rivals again like Poroshenko.

@EarthlingWise
love or is it fear?

Something much more powerful, something trump can never resist... flattery and attention
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@ImNotHungry any details to go along with that somewhat vague series of allusions?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@ImNotHungry
He is now president of Ukraine by Martial law

No, he is President of Ukraine as a result of free and fair elections.

He remains serving in that role because the russian genocidal aggression against Ukraine means that free and fair elections cannot be held i.e. russia is preventing free and fair elections from being held in Ukraine (as if russia would know anything about free and fair elections!)

@newjaninev2 I'm happy to be detailed if you're ready to be specific . You know how to copy and paste anything you wish me to clarify.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@ImNotHungry The Ukrainian Parliament has authorised suspension of elections while russia is murdering Ukraine's men, women, children, and babies, and deliberately targeting Ukraine's residental areas, schools, hospitals, etc.

Does that upset you?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@ImNotHungry
isn't worth nor can it (should it) be defended

and yet... Day 1,096. 😂

Apparently the Western democracies think you're wrong
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@ImNotHungry
you're ready to be specific

As I said, I'd like you to talk about security guarantees. Did Ukraine receive any, and from whom?
ImNotHungry · 36-40, M
@newjaninev2 if your argument is "well the parliament". That can be said about Russia as well. 😂🤷🤣So you have no argument against Putin.

Does that upset you?

I don't have any interest in anything that happens in the government of Ukraine. All I know is Zelensky is now called out for being the Nazi, banderite, Hitlerite, fascist dictator that he is and I'm here for it. 🫡
ImNotHungry · 36-40, M
@newjaninev2
Apparently the Western democracies think you're wrong

Well apparently the western democracies are in dismay after JD Vance likened them to the Soviets. 🤣
ImNotHungry · 36-40, M
@newjaninev2
As I said, I'd like you to talk about security guarantees. Did Ukraine receive any, and from whom?
Again, specifics what are you talking about? Budapest Memo? Minsk?
@ImNotHungry Seriously, are you calling Zelensky a dictator based on the word of Donald Trump, a convicted criminal ? Who admires dictators and seems to have such ambitions himself ? 😳
