You're missing the point. According to the fairytale the God character sacrificed his son. The reason he did that was because he was an egotistical narcissist who was getting pissed that his cult with the Jews wasn't growing.
So, he came up with the plan to sacrifice his son so that the Gentiles would jump on the bandwagon in order to get eternal life. However, he never directly appealed to the Gentiles. That is something they did on their own. He just wants a big fan club to boost his ego as the most popular God because he is such a jealous creature. Remember, he said that his name was Jealous. Why would a creature who supposedly creates everything ever be jealous about anything or anyone?
