Special Counsel Jack Smith seeks Jan 2, 2024 start date for election interference trial

“A January 2 trial date would vindicate the public’s strong interest in a speedy trial – an interest guaranteed by the Constitution and federal law in all cases, but of particular significance here, where the defendant, a former president, is charged with conspiring to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election, obstruct the certification of the election results, and discount citizens’ legitimate votes,” prosecutors wrote.

Shockingly, Twice Impeached wasn’t too happy with that request.

Smith believes his prosecution will only take 4 - 6 weeks.

I’d like to see it even sooner, but it’s likely a realistic date, jury selection starting Dec. 11th, so maybe things move along we can start on Dec. 25th and have a guilty of all charges verdict on Jan.6th.
@BackyardShaman Trump will continue to stoke violence and hatred and, frankly, so many voters are sick and tired of it. And many of his former supporters are finally realizing what a shallow, inept, lying, prejudiced, and loser of a criminal he truly is. This is probably the high point of his popularity among his base. Their support will start to dwindle as he keeps draining their savings with his “I’m very, very rich but I need your money to pay for my crimes” pitches.
