So many think Donald Trump is still a threat. I think Ron DeSantis is a far greater threat. Your thoughts?

Both are an existential threat to America and, by extension, the wider world.

Of the two, I agree that DeSantis is by far the bigger threat.

Galvanise, mobilise and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE. Forget the BS about "Independent" candidates. America has a two party system. It always has. I agree with those that say that this needs to change. But now is not the time. Safeguard your democracy first. Then look at implementing change.

@room101 Neither DeSantis nor Trump are the threat.. The threat is their supporters. Ten years ago, both of these men would have been comedy skits on Saturday Night Live with their Policies. Its the people who have changed..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I'm not so sure. There has always been bigotry, hatred and simple stupidity. What has changed is that these two specimens have made that not just OK, but also something to be proud of.

Ultimately, yeah, it's the people that vote for them (while they still can vote that is) but it's them that have enabled the hatred etc.

@room101 I totally accept that.. It used to be considered ignorant and ill bred to hold such opinions. The opinion of the crazy uncle who arrived drunk for Thanksgiving. Trump and Desantis have given these people a voice, a focus, and the Whole Republican Party as a choir..😷

Either one has a very good chance at being president. Half the population loves any crazy politician with an R behind their name.
@Crazywaterspring So far, the majority STLL supports Democracy but that could easily change. I'm counting on the younger generation to be smart enough to vote and see us through this brittle state.
@Crazywaterspring Yeah, so anyone who doesn’t want to wind up living in a Christian Evangelical Caliphate had better pay close attention. And vote !
@bijouxbroussard THANK YOU!

I think Ron DeSantis is a far greater threat.
We can already see the sorts of strategies DeSantis would employ as president by looking at what he’s done in his role as governor of Florida. It's scary to think how he would use the power of a president.

Thankfully, I think he has far less supporters then Trump because he has an even more extreme ideology. But when voting time comes around...I fear tribalism will win out. the real deciding factor will be the millions of independents out there. I think the more people can do to oppose the ideologies of politicians like Ron and Trump, the better America will be.

Both are, but as for DeSantis I think he likely is more dangerous. He’s a genuine hick and far more impulsive. Trump is fake at everything and goes mainly where he feels he can soak up wealth by catering to bad actors. I really think that if DeSantis goes in as president, we will see an immediate response from the World in the form of nuclear attacks on the USA.
Honestly, I think you’re right about that, because there are people still otherwise in their right minds who have been fooled by DeSantis. Most of Trump’s supporters are the extremists.
@bijouxbroussard Ironically, someone mentioned Trump is disgusted with his own low life supporters, he remarked, "They don't look very classy do they"? You may remember I'm a huge supporter of "Read banned books week" I used to give the kids posters for their classrooms to post when I had my yogurt store.

Banning books is a huge red flag. Fascism is not far away and people mock Antifa. They will live to regret their false belief.
