@FoothillsPatriot Yes indeed, the did!!
The mRNA vaccines were tested in large trials of 30,000 and 45,000 subjects for Moderna & Pfizer respectively. There were also animal trials.
"Efficacy and Safety of the mRNA-1273 SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine"
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmoa2035389
Conclusions
The mRNA-1273 vaccine showed 94.1% efficacy at preventing Covid-19 illness, including severe disease. Aside from transient local and systemic reactions, no safety concerns were identified. (Funded by the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; COVE ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT04470427.)
Safety and Efficacy of the BNT162b2 mRNA Covid-19 Vaccine
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmoa2034577
Conclusions
A two-dose regimen of BNT162b2 conferred 95% protection against Covid-19 in persons 16 years of age or older. Safety over a median of 2 months was similar to that of other viral vaccines. (Funded by BioNTech and Pfizer; ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT04368728.)
Moderna animal trials
https://www.nejm.org/doi/10.1056/NEJMoa2024671
Pfizer animal trials
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-021-03275-y
BTW, the first clinical trials of any sort of mRNA vaccine in humans were in 2014 & 2015. Animal trials started in 2012.

@FoothillsPatriot No, developing an inactivated version of a virus takes years; the mRNA vaccines bypass all that bother. The trials take a year or less depending on how fast they can recruit subjects. In this case recruitment wasn't a problem.
Look, most of what you thought you learned from facebook memes is false, including that. SAD!!

@FoothillsPatriot No, I agree that you know NOTHING about how vaccines in general work, just as you know NOTHING about how the body's immune system works. Most of what you thought you learned from facebook memes is false. SAD!!

@FoothillsPatriot No. I didn't. I said they didn't need an inactivated virus which is the slow part. Apparently you don't understand much about how vaccines work. Add to that the fact that you're filled with false notions and unwilling to learn, and the result is your steady stream of hilarious misconceptions, LOL!!!

So please explain what was wrong with all those trials. Oh, wait, you can't because your knowledge of vaccines and immunology came almost entirely from facebook memes, LOL!!!
