With the US election so close to call, and with so much anger (and disbelief) on either side, how will the winner ever bring both sides together?

I think it's too close to call.

Polls say Hillary is very slightly ahead, but with Trump continuing to gain, I think he may win.

He may lose the electoral college thus Hillary will be President Elect, with Trump still winning the majority in the actual popular vote.

Either way, it makes leading difficult. There will be pools of bad blood on either side.

If that happens, how will they lead and bring the country together?

Not that I think either of them believes that is even possible.

Lol. True. But the Republicans have not still accepted that an African American is their present president. So much for acceptance.

I do agree with you though. It's what is best

True. But the big problem is that we shouldn't have got to this stage in the first place. Keep in mind that Hilary is no... Angel but she is lucky that she is running against trump..

I am very worried about the future of USA. That´s where I am thinking very often of it: The first work the next president has to do is to bring both sides together again. And this will be A VERY DIFFICULT WORK - maybe even impossible. And you are very right: The Republicans even can´t accept an African American as their present president.
Right now some fans of Trump try already their weapons to fight in case Trump doesn´t win the election. Just google: "Three Percent Security Force!" :-(
I am so much afraid that a civil war in USA could start. 😭

@Loretta78: so scary. I have read the same thing. One side can't grasp that if the other side wins, that was the will of the people. If their guy doesn't win, they think they have to cause havoc until four years or eight years later they get another kick at the can and hope to scare the voters yet again into voting their party in.

The only hope as I see it, is that education, and information and perseverance pay off.

When people realize that one party is virtually dictated by the donor class and nearly everything they do is for the benefit of the wealthy, they may smarten up. But as my Grampa says, you can talk French to a dog all day long. It won't sophisticate it.

Lol

@Curiousguy833: I´ve never said that Hillary is an angel. I guess none of these candidates is an angel. But the two sides (Republicans - Democrats) are TOO different. There´s so much difference that I fear a civil war (Three Percent Security Force takes already seriously training for it). :-(

@Loretta78: I have read the same. Until each voter learns to vote for whomever will advance their own lives instead of being riled up by those advancing the causes of their donors, it won't change.

Until the media stops making celebrities out of sideshows it won't change.

Unless people reject fear mongering and whipping up anger, it won't change.

And until there is a return to some semblance of civility, it won't change.

You can disagree with someone without reducing them to trash. It happens every day in relationships, marriages, workplaces, schools, and lines in McDonald's.
Why can't political leaders try it out?

@CassandraFemale17: That´s a good question! 🤔

@Loretta78: it won't happen because they don't want it to happen. If you keep painting your opponent as corrupt, restful, lacking originality, inept, threatening to your way of life etc.....some of it sticks. If enough of it sticks, you can win the next election.

Refusing to get along has its benefits too. It eventually erodes the supporters on the other side. Say 2+2=5 long enough and loud enough, and loads of ignorant people will start to believe you
