Donald Trump is a “textbook racist” whose “words and behaviours demonstrate considerable prejudicial bias”, a Duke University professor has claimed.

The President’s “insensitive, disrespectful and mean-spirited statements and actions” are consistent with a number of categories of racism including “insidious” and “symbolic” racism, according to Jay Pearson, an assistant professor at Duke’s Sanford School of Public Policy.

Mr Trump has in the past called racism an “evil” and white supremacists “repugnant”.

Prof Pearson wrote in the LA Times: “Throughout last year’s campaign and his first eight months in office, the president has expressed his bias through government orders and the presidential bully pulpit (systemic racism).

“Trump argued that as a ‘Mexican,’ US District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who was born and raised in the United States, could not fairly arbitrate lawsuits related to Trump University (structural racism).

“For years, Trump protested, falsely, that Barack Obama was not born in the US and was consequently elected illegitimately (symbolic racism).”

These actions meet scholarly definitions of racist behaviour, he said. Symbolic racism involves rhetoric that delegitimises others, while structural racism assigns social value to people based on inherent differences, he added.

Following his initially equivocal response to the Charlottesville, Virginia riots earlier this year, Mr Trump explicitly condemned the racism on display when white supremacists took to the streets.

He said: “Racism is evil and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.”

Trump for the most part has been set-up to fail by both sides and maybe even the middle. Most of his comments have been correct but have been interpreted as to mean something else. He may not be politically correct all the time if any, but he usually speaks as most common people do and not the elite which pisses many off. Try just listening or reading his comments as you would any one on the street without going by the lefts or the right wing politically correct folks as they both want him to fail. The politicians do not want an honest person in office as they would be a threat to their established agenda to help big corporations.
If you want some proof, why do we have Obamacare or need any other insurance? It was a boon for insurance companies to rape us money wise and both sides want to have insurance companies involved in healthcare as that is where they get money from the lobbyists. Instead why hasn't one politician come up with a plan that bases medical, hospital and pharmaceutical costs on income? Think about it.....it would remove the insurance companies from the price gouging. For example if a person or family makes only has $30,000 income for a year (before tax deductions) then they might pay only $2.00 for a doctor visit, meds maybe limited to only $1.00 per prescription and hospital care limited to a small amount based on the procedure or care given........if a person or family makes $500,000 per year then their MD visit might be $200 and the other costs based accordingly, the guy making $5,000,000 however would pay $2,000 for the same MD visit. The unemployed actuaries from the defunct insurance companies could easily figure out how to base the cost structure to make it possible.
Also look at you hospitals, Clinics and MD Offices in big cities. They look like art work and the insides are all comfy and opulent. If these assholes weren't overcharging for services there wouldn't be that crap going on. Doctors in many cases are paid or some other way bribed to push certain drugs by sales people, if this practice were ended our prescriptions prices should be allowed to go down and if not then these companies should be fined and the fines be used to reduce med prices for the lower income people.
Washington stinks, it is both the liberals and conservatives as they work together to screw those who aren't corporations. I grant you Trump is a crude bastard but he isn't the dishonest one the fake media makes him out to be as much as we think. We are all in need to look at who we voted in and try to change the election process in our city, state and federal governments so honest people can get elected. The first thing to do is throw lobbyists in prison, the CEOs of companies that pay them and the politicians that accept bribes / gifts / favors. Make it a 20 year no -parole in a federal prison like Leavonworth or Elreno.

hi acpguy
Impressive. I note your sincerity and good sense.
Still Trump is a racist. That is or should be unconstitutional.
Best wishes
:)
@acpguy please consider adding some line breaks.

I think you might be saying some stuff I agree or disagree with, but it's too hard to read.

@sogdianrock Are you basing what you are saying on the news from others or actual action? I have yet to see any actions on his part that would make him racist. I did however witness Obama showing racism in his words and who he picked for his staff. Really be honest with yourself and how you make judgements. There have been many people in my life I did not like because of how they spoke or looked, but I did respect them because they were honest, good judgements even if they were assholes.

@MistyCee Sorry, I ramble and tend to forget proper prose.

hi DethComesRipping
I just copied a newspaper article I found interesting. Why say I regurgitated propaganda? I mean what world do you live in? The Independent is an independent newspaper of standing.
Best wishes
:)
@sogdianrock If the Independent is not nice to Trump, its "Fake News."

The fact that people buy this actually bothers me more than Trump's race baiting and dog whistling.

@DethComesRipping Thanks, I find bad things going on with both parties it is getting harder to discern which one is worse.
