I Support Barack Obama For President

We Need a Democratic Majority ! Do You Remember the Jimmy Carter Block...
The republicans blocked Jimmy Carter at every turn. Even to the point that very few people remember today that it was Jimmy Carter who brought the hostages home NOT Reagan. Yes, I said it and I did not bite my tongue. Carter got the hostages out. While Reagan was being signed into office Carter worked to very last minute to get them out and he did. It is a matter of fact ...I did not not make it up. Check for yourself. It is a matter of historical record. Also Republicans stopped Carter at every turn.(they had the majority in the house and the senate then, too) Americans at that time were so trusting of their government. They did not see the plan at that time was to prevent any good thing Carter tried to do and gain power by defeating him at the cost of the American dream. Ask Russia what that meant. After agreeing to become a part of the World Market with Reagan negotiations, a regular 8 lbs beef roast cost over $165 inside Russia!
Republicans had their own dream of power for the rich and only the rich. The Republicans did not care what they tore down to get that power either.
Now, after 8 yrs of the same type of politics
Americans know what happened before and during Mr Bush Jr and did not let it happen again, with the McCain/Palin connection ... thank the Creator!
Reagan deregulated American businesses and allowed them to start-up overseas without any regulations or protections for the American job. That is why the new money (newly rich republicans) loved him so much. Before Reagan, American businesses could not deflate their American business when they started a new business overseas. They could not trade American jobs, wages and cut or deflate healthcare either. Everyone wants to place the blame on Clinton, but Reagan opened the floodgates and he is the main reason 85% of manufacturing jobs went overseas. He deregulated the Airlines. Airlines had more crashes (no old air traffic controllers to train the new)in the years that followed than ever before and today Airline prices and practices are simply ridiculous.
The Keaton Five deregulation practices caused the Savings & Loan Failure. And, now after eight years of deregulation practices we have a failed economy, failed military face to the world(Gitmo), failed infrastructure, failed healthcare, failed jobs program, failed emergency/crisis plan and look who gets to clean it up???
I am glad the deregulators are out of office but I am very sorry Obama has to be the one to clean it up. I think the ones who did this should pay the American people back bigtime. I have found in my long life that those people who shout I am an American the loudest are usually the ones that bring America down. The fact is the best way to show your love for America is not to stand for things just because somebody tells you it is American.
Our forefathers did not worry so much about America ... but more about what it meant to have freedom, be safe, and have the ability to choose the lifestyle, religion, and education a Free Human being is entitled, to.
A good American should "think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best for his or her country.' A good American should" think well of themselves and proclaim this fact to the world, NOT IN LOUD WORDS OR EMPTY GESTURES, but in great deeds that all may see their worth'.
Yeah, I hope everyone does try to Help Obama and the new government do the right thing this time. And, I do mean everyone. Everyone means, everyone that says they are an American and really does put our country first.
Peace and Much Love to you.

livingwell, although I will join you in thanking any and all higher powers that have led this nation to vote for Barack Obama ... please take a little time to review other parts of last century's history before demonizing all Republicans and giving every Democrat a free pass.

As a starter, I would suggest "Charley Wilson's War", the painful tale of collaboration between the CIA, a House Democrat from Texas and Tip O'Neill, the Speaker of the House to equip religious insurgents in Afghanistan with the best US warfighting technology available. The bill for that horrifying short sighted decision to empower Al Qaida came due first in the embassy attacks in 1996, and then of course on September 11, 2001.

We also owe the lack of a rational health care financing system largely to rancor and turf battles inside the Democratic Party during the mid-1990s.

On the other side, it's worth remembering that not all Republicans are caught in the neocon "echo box" -- note that Senator McCain, even in the most desperate moments of his failing election bid, refused to allow his supporters to use race as a vehicle for their attacks.

And though I am also not fond of the Republican Party's relationship with the super rich, I am equally upset by the Democrats' placid acceptance of the 700 billion dollar bailout and have written both of my Democratic Senators asking that they open contempt hearings against Secretary Paulson for lying to Congress.

Unfortunately for me, one of my Senators is an extreme "Blue Dog" Democrat who has actually praised Bush Jr's efforts in Iraq, and the other is currently preoccupied with his upcoming promotion on January 20.
