I Support Barack Obama For President

Colin Powell For Obama???...
I have to admit that I only considered Gen Colin Powell as a white, republican, conservative who loved the Bush & McCain rules of engagement.
Most people of color had given Powell up for dead a long time ago.
This is a total shock to me. But I warmly thank the 4 Star General for his support of Obama/Biden. There is no one else who could have put the case of OBAMA before the American people so eloquently, truthfully, and so devastingly to the McCain campaign.
McCain tried to run on experience but his campaign to the American people, especially to all the people of color who embraced the republican way and were kicked out, is sorely lacking of three things. It does not include all Americans by using race separation and robo negative calls, there is no real plan for middle class America, and McCains' health plan is not a plan but a republican wish list to keep healthcare the same in America.
I heard what Gen. Colin Powell said about the Iraq war. He said the only reason he backed that war was because of a situation that claimed that there were weapons of mass destruction. We haven't even found a box of firecrackers in Iraq.
Powell felt he had been ill used by the Bush administration.
Also we cannot fault Powell about that reasoning because Tony Blair lost his seat in Great Brittian for backing the Bush/Iraq war. The Brits considered it a very bad decision. They felt America had over stepped its bounds by not telling the truth about why we really went to Iraq.
So I think you have to give Gen Colin Powell the nod on this one. He is a very intelligent man with the hard military experience and hard presidential experience to make this statement. Those who oppose him on this are only showing their true racist colors.
We settled America with the creed that any person who resides here is free to be anything they can be...who are these people who say other wise?? Right-Wing Republicans for McCain/Palin, maybe???

I guess I am surprised by some of the statements made here. Powell is a very bright individual. He moved up the ranks based on his intelligence, integrity and commitment. How can one say that he was suckered in by the Bush lies? Powell had full access to the "facts" like a number of people in Congress (i.e. Levin, Clinton, etc...). Yet he still preached to the UN that action was needed (won't get into the 29 UN votes to take action against Iraq since 1991...that's a different story). Based on what folks have said about the Bush Administration, wouldn’t Powell fall into that category? I do not agree with many things that the Bush Administration has done. Current economics issues are related to both parties and go back a long ways. Can you say Nixon and the gold standard? Further how can it be racist to disagree with his choice/decision? I have no problems with him coming out and supporting Obama. That’s what this country is all about. I applaud him for doing so. But some of the statements made just seem ignorant.
Gunman...if McCain had of picked Powell for VP he might have a better chance of winning this election.

But on a totally real note. Powell would never trust the republican party for that post seeing how they used him to start an oil war in Iraq, lying about weapons of mass destruction.

One day when I have time maybe I will discuss the real Iraq history with the welching BushI and Jr administrations. With a little history under your belt maybe you could have better opinions when it comes down to high government level decisions. You know opinions based on fact...
Have a great day!

My ancestors fought the British for their freedom. My mother fought for the right for women to vote. I fought during the Civil Rights era for equal rights for ALL. I am glad that Colin Powell has at last joined us in our fight and hope that this time we win the prize of a better nation for All the People of the United States.

During the interview on Meet the Press I thought Powell was so intelligent, thoughtful and insightful in all of his responses. I especially was delighted when he pointed out that even Arab-Americans can fight and die for the USA....I trust he put a lot of thought into his decision to back Obama....he is truly an American patriot.
