Compare and contrast anyone?

Let's please keep it civil towards each other.

I have Trumpist and ADHD relatives, and believe it or not, have some sympathy towards all human beings trying to get through life with them.

The degree may vary on many factors, obviously.

You said to keep it civil, so....
Adhd and autism are conditions that aren't elective. The person afflicted doesn't choose to do the things they do. It takes years of practice to control their condition. (Sometimes still, unable all the time).
Trumpism is elective. Bottom line. No one has to deal with these people. Unless of course, they are seeking help.
@Carla Damn, Carla. As much as I condemn Trumpism, I'm not sure it's purely "elective" and it's quite possible that there's a "spectrum" of Trump supporters.

And even if there wasn't, we do "have to deal with these people" whether they're our neighbors, relatives, or even just the folks waiting to short change us at the store.

@Carla moreover, the deplorables did contain themselves a bit more before Trump's 1st run for POTUS (and actual POTUS term), but his election in their mind was like a license to extend their deplorableness ... even people going on planes and grabbing women inappropriately after Trump's infamous "grab them by the p-ssy" comment. So there are parallels to the autistic child's parents and Trump, and I think it is legitimate to assert that Trump bears some responsibility for the deplorables now acting even more uncivilized, even if they are grown adults who are legitimately responsible for their own uncivilized actions ... I just don't know where you would place the line between percentages of it being on the deplorables versus their svengali

@MistyCee i reckon when i say "deal with" i was being far too broad. I dont have anyone within my circle that is a trumpist. And i do interact with "them" often, as i live in, well...trumplandia.
But i do so with disguised contempt.
I do think that selective blindness is elective. And that is what the cult practice.
As far as placing cultists on a spectrum...i don't believe there to be enough that seperates them ideologically as to place them on a spectrum.

@Carla Think about a multidimensional spectrum, maybe?

Like Trump himself, a lot of his followers don't really seem to have much of an ideological basis.

@MistyCee A spectrum is full of shades and depth. There is nothing varied or individual about any trumpist I've encountered.
And that's it...their ideologies are thinnly veiled prejudices. Any presence that it is anything else, now that they've been set free, for me, is ridiculous.
But that's just my take.
Thank goodness not all conservatives fall into the "trumpist" column.
@SW-User While I'm sure there are plenty of "cognitively" impaired Trump supporters, my guess is that the number isn't as significant as those with other non-cognitive issues.
