@marsbar All I mix with the apples is sugar and cinnamon (I put in a lot because I love cinnamon). The pastry I use half lard and half vegetable shortening.

@marsbar I don't actually measure the filling part.
the pastry:
5 1/2 cups of flour
2 tsp of salt
In a measuring cup:
1 beaten egg
1tblsp of vinnegar
fill with cold water to 1 cup

At the wet to the dry and knead, be prepared to have sticky fingers

Knead into ball and divide in two wrap and keep in the fridge for a day.

@JimboSaturn Oh that’s right. How much lard & shortening do you use in the crust?

@marsbar I use half a brick of pound of lard and half a pound of vegetable shortening.

Personally I’d substitute for the lard. @marsbar @JimboSaturn
