To listen...
You find incredible wisdom from each and every single individual in their own separate and distinct experiences.
I have even talked to kids that impress me with their insight.
Yet how many of us actually take time to have a genuine conversation with those much younger than us? Not just to tell them what to do because “we know better” or “we know what’s best for them”, but to actually listen.
So many people have so much to say yet are taken for granted and not heard.
So many people have great intelligence and amazing hearts and are overlooked or merely glanced at.
How do we change this?
Person by person.
With a smile.
No matter what labels they call us.
Just smile and nod and keep going.
We have grown in a world where our apparent usefulness determines our worth as individuals.
Where how you look or what you can do or how fast you can be determines whether someone considers you efficient, or an asset instead of a liability.
Yeah, sure that’s life.
But every step we take, the attitude within us, the way we look at people, how we appreciate the efforts of others makes all the difference.
And this happens one step at a time.
Person by person.
Even if someone leaves and never gets back to you, at least your memory will be of someone who didn’t label them with a word but with a smile.
