Today was the day my entire being needed.

Plans I had reluctantly agreed to fell through pretty early, which opened up this rainy day for exactly what I secretly wanted…home time.

Deep cleaning the kitchen
Six loads of laundry
Tidying up my bedroom
New bedding
Cleaning out the garage
Watering indoor plants
Dusting
Making pasta to last the guys the week
Baking cookies
Giving the dogs a bath

All taken on without a single song playing in the background as I granted myself the very rare occasion of only having my own thoughts to motivate me. I was my own cheerleader today in real time and I sort of loved that form of self-love.

And as the last load of laundry tumbles in the dryer and one of the cookies waits patiently for the moment it touches my lips, peace is felt knowing the day unfolded exactly how it was meant to. I’m sure as hell not going to ruin it by putting the clothes away though. That whole awful ordeal is for another day, and I’m quite okay with that.


Tomorrow brings ample sunshine, no to-do list, and the opportunity for me to explore town by myself. Again, it’ll be a day that’ll make me feel like I’m spending these precious days off as perfectly as I can…and that is such a blessing when it’s able to be a thing. I got lucky this time around 😌
