I'm remarkably lucky. Excuse the long story....
About 25 years ago there was a wild pounding on the front door my wife opened it and our neighbours daughter was distraught. "Dad's choking" is all I heard.
I ran bare foot (I remember) through the pouring rain down the side of their house into the kitchen. Jeff is on his knees - very blue. His wife is crying on the phone screaming they need and ambulance.
I lift him up and vaguely remembering something I was told on a lifesaver course at work I laced my fingers together and heaved up. Nothing. Twice more harder lifting him off his feet then something flies up his mouth and he takes the deepest loudest breath ever.
Jeff is an electrician. A few years later a switch is playing up. He comes round and does everything. I say "How much do I owe you". He says "You never pay. You saved my life and I'll never forget that".
