A beautiful example of resilience and another generations values 🖤

I'm lucky enough that I still get to work with my one senior. She is 99 years old and just moved into assisted living. The family has asked me to stay on and help her/be with her because she really likes me.

Her first day in assisted living she was freaked out. She didn't believe she belonged there because a lot of other seniors are much worse off than her. She is struggling a bit but for 99 she's incredible. She was a nurse for 40+ years and without me saying anything she found her way to the conclusion that she could help people.

She goes to each person, the seniors and the staff and greets, checks in and says something sweet. She helps other seniors and speaks to everyone like a friend.

Even in her limited capacity, mind and body, she found it in her heart and soul to choose kindness and giving.

She inspires me and I'm so thankful I spoke up and got her away from her abusive husband. She still misses him, but she is blossoming. She is beautiful and I feel immensely fortunate to be a part of her life.

I'm glad it all worked out. You were pretty tough on yourself. But your instincts were right and your placed her in a position to thrive. Pls think before you second guess doing a good thing. The result isn't always immediately clear. But you were part of the solution here. Hugs!

@Livingwell I am hard on myself because I made some life altering choices for others and there was a lot of factors to it that made it a difficult transition. It's perfectly okay for me to care and worry and then feel fortunate that when it unfolded it worked out. It's still not without it's challenges. She fell the other day, she's not in her house so there's adjusting.

If I'm not hard on myself I chance screwing up and I don't have the security most have to make a few mistakes here and there.

Anyway, I'm glad that it's working out for her. And so glad to be a part of her life.
