When The Lightbulb Goes Off...
Have you found your purpose in something unglamorous, unexciting, or undesirable by many?
Perhaps all three?
I think I have and I'm unapologetic about it.
In fact the peace of mind that it brings me is worth way more than any judgment I might face from other people.
The job I was doing was killing my soul,my spirit, and I was depressed all the time.
And we weren't really saving much money.
A good percentage was just going for little extra luxuries that I can very much do without.
My time will be spent in making meals, cleaning a house, laundry, dishes and the like.
To the chagrin of people who think a woman should never do anything for their man, because they'll be exploited, I rather like doing these things for my husband.
The light bulb being, that I'd rather work for him than some company who doesn't care anything about me except for a clog in the machine.
My children are grown, but I still have influence with my granddaughters.
I'd rather have the free time to spend with them than any extra money a job might bring.
I get no fulfillment in working outside the home, I know that's not true of everyone some people truly love it.
And I know not everyone can have this luxury.
I can say I'm very grateful that my husband cares more about my mental well-being than he does a paycheck.
That and we are paying off our van.
So no more payments or high insurance rates.
The total of the two being about half of what I was earning.
So, we know we can make it without me working outside the home.
For indeed I still will be working pretty hard.
I'm a simple lady and I adore a simple life.
Kids, grandkids, extended family, friends it's enough.
More than enough, for me it's the good life.
