This was back in the day
I used to work at Intel, the company that makes semiconductors for our computers.
The place is huge and there’s lots of machines moving around and long hallways.
I was just some manual labor guy but we had to transport Wafer Boards on these little carts from one machine to another. It was an easy but repetitive job. Super easy job but it was super boring after your first 2 weeks. You start to feel like the machines you’re around.
We had to wear what they call “bunny suits”. No they’re not what you’re thinking. They were just white suits that we had to wear to protect the wafer boards from our bodies. Turns out our bodies release tons of tiny skin particles and the company definitely doesn’t want the fiber and dust from our clothes getting on any of these wafer boards because that can ruin them fans make them not function.
Anyway, from time to time we had to communicate with each other across long hallways of machines. We couldn’t hear each other so we’d use hand signals to communicate. If there were 3 foupes ready for pickup, the guy at the other end would raise 3 fingers up to let us know they need 3 people to come on over and pick them up.
I started making perverted hand signals and also acting like a referee at a football game, waving my arms around like a ref. It was pretty funny because my co-workers started doing it too.
Or sometimes we’d moan down a hallway and people would pop up from around the corner to investigate only to not see us while they scratched their head wondering what they just heard. 😆
This was back when I barely graduated high school. I’ll admit, even for that age it was pretty immature but it was pretty funny doing this. We had to have fun somehow on those 12 hour shifts. It was harmless fun.
