I really feel like I'm starting to heal parts of me that used to be ashamed of my culture the older I'm getting and I love it.

Even down to wearing the clothes I grew up wearing and speaking more of the language I avoided speaking. It's no wonder I'm better at English now🫩I technically grew up with both languages at the same time. I wasn't introduced to one before the other but it's still in me and that's all that matters.

How df can I be ashamed of the beauty and art in this? The soul it carries is beautiful🥹 [media=https://youtu.be/r_lxE7kF0Fo]

This is so so so relatable. 💜
@SwampFlower It's so layered because when I mention culture people think religion. They are not the same. Sure there's a culture that comes with religion and in some ways it's allowed me to understand and relate to more than just one part of the world but the two are not the same. It's why most on here thought I was Arab for the longest time. But I wouldn't have it any other way, my identity allows me to have an understanding of arabs because of my religion and and people from different religions like Hindus and Sikhs because of the culture we share.

@HijabaDabbaDoo it’s interesting how much people conflate the two. I’ve always separated them in my mind.
