Zeiss Ikon Colora (ca. 1965) - the old family camera

I can remember my Dad buying this while I was at junior school. An awful lot of family memories have passed through that little lens! I can remember it was novel at the time in that it took photos onto 35mm slide film. All the cameras we had in the family till then were either 127 or 120 format, the latter with only eight exposures per film. The Zeiss Ikon could go up to 36 exposures. It's a very simple camera, though - you have to set focus, shutter speed and aperture yourself - there's no 'auto' mode, and no rangefinder to help with focussing. You can. though, mount it on a tripod, use a remote shutter release and do 'timed' exposures.

This camera was languishing in a cupboard at home, with the aluminium covering the top of the camera loose and missing a screw. It went to a local camera shop, who kept it for weeks before fixing it - free of charge! I bought a roll of film, partly as a goodwill gesture...

Does it still work? I see no reason why not. It'll be a challenge using it after my DSLR and, more to the point, just using a mobile phone. We shall see...

Nice. A Novicar lens is a new one on me though.
