A car accident with a happy ending

A friend of mine was in a car accident where she had to get both her legs amputated. But her feet were not damaged so the left them. She was so lucky.

Hmmm. A foot is attached to a leg. How do you keep your foot when you have your leg amputated?

@Phantome My question is basic anatomy. The foot is an extremity, as in it's the last part, and it is attached to the leg. If the leg is amputated, then, the foot is amputated along with it.

It's like saying: the arm was amputated, but the hand was not damaged.

@Northwest I think you'd have to ask the surgeon. He made the decision to leave the feet from amputation
