I agree with you! My parents are Scandinavian and I travel over there regularly to visit with relatives which is where dual citizenship comes in handy.
The USA in stark contrast, is not a free Nation nor has it ever has been. It has always been a Nation ready to self-implode from right-wing social exclusions.
This means that even if you're an American who was born in the USA who's the right color ..and you put the right sign on your front lawn and you voted for the right idiot in Washington, it will still cost you the price of your house if you ever end up in an American hospital. But at least you'll still have your 2nd Amendment Right fully intact to protect yourself from your fellow Americans.

The reason America had slavery was because the concept was introduced to Americans by Colonial Great Britain who were the ones who actually started the Slave Trade in the first place under the direction of the British Monarchy. Of interest you may find, is that it was a woman who decided that Slavery was okay; it was not a man.
Great Britain then went to the US government and pitched them a deal which of course Americans couldn't refuse because Americans being who they are at their core, could see a great financial opportunity to make money off Slavery.
What the Americans did on their end of the deal for the Brits was to help facilitate the kidnapping and transportation of Black slaves from the Caribbean and south-west Africa, which means that Colonial Great Britain were in a very lucrative business partnership with the USA during the entire era of the Slave Trade.
Oddly enough, the Slave Trade officially ended in 1948 which really isn't that long ago and to this very day, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in south-west Africa at the same time as Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in the USA.
The significance of this is that Thanksgiving in Africa is a celebration of the world's Black community becoming legally separated from the 'human ownership' control of the US government which became Law back in 1948 after the US yielded to International pressure.
That was the day that the US government was no longer permitted to 'own' Slaves. Prior to 1948 however, the US government decided that they were entitled to 'own' people if it served America's interests. Enter Donald J. Trump 70 years later and the best is yet to come for America they say.
Of all the countries in the world which celebrate Thanksgiving Day, only the USA and a small ex-Slave Trade country in south-west Africa celebrate Thanksgiving on the same day of the year.
That African Nation celebrate their freedom from the USA on Thanksgiving Day, whereas the United States as a Nation is not a free country of itself and quite frankly, you won't find an American out there today who actually knows why the USA celebrates Thanksgiving Day at all!

@swirlie As a European myself we haven't had slavery like the USA nor KKK. I remember my grandpa reminding me that we need to love all people and some Americans are racist. I was horrified about that as a child. We need to teach our children to be loving! It's horrible to be racist and hateful. God will judge hateful people.

I don't know in which States Racism is advocated, but I do know that kids don't become Racists through intuitive understanding. They are taught Racism at home by their parents and by their peer groups. There are billionaires in New York who are blatantly Racist and that Racism is passed on within the household where their billionaire kids are taught by their moms and dads that it's normal to perceive themselves as superior to Blacks and Brown people. Money and higher education within a household does not mean that the home's occupants do not advocate White Supremacy.
