Right on.
I am glad to see a good day happen in a good way for you Chief.
I know how good you feel about reconnecting with your friend.
This afternoon I was surprised by someone rapidly and kinda loud knocking on my front door.
I peered out of my bedroom window and was a little shocked to see her car sitting in front of my house.
When I opened my front door she was standing there next to her son, who I am very proud of, big smiles and "Surprise!"
I opened the door and stepped out into open arms and there was another person standing behind blocked hidden from view.
After 10 minutes of the 3 of them all talking at me, sometimes over each other or cutting in on someone to correct a detail they got wrong, I decided that we needed to go get beer and sodas and come back so I could fire up the grill. Filling in the latest news and answering questions was going to take more time than a little bit.
And I am relieved that I was able to make that shift and tell myself "Fuck it. Let's try to appreciate the fact that they did drive all the way out here to check on a brother."
When we got back to my house I was outside prepping my grill, while mom and son were in the kitchen putting the beverages in the fridge.
It was then that my other friend dropped her news that her ex husband the father of her 3 children, my looong time enemy, was dead.
Whoa!
But like you said Chief being given an accepting an unecpected opportunity to reconnect can turn things around.
It didn't instantly heal us but we were all happy to have today to remeber each other and why we became friends so long ago.
