Proud To Be Rhodesian

I will be Rhodesian till my dieing day and try to be the best Rhodesian I can be . Sadly people see it as a weakness to be taken advantage of as we are friendly generous helpful people who will always help in any way we can .
This has happened to me to many times and since leaving my beautiful home life has not been kind . I really tried to live the best life I could and had kids I will always love . Sadly I have to failed marriages neither I can truly say was not my fault . Been taken advantage of many times and had my good name dragged through the mud once to often . I will always be proud of my Rhodesian heritage but sadly will never help or trust anyone again and will probably be single till my dieing day . Its a sad world when you have to shut yourself off from the world for your own sanity but that is what I have decided to do . So I will still be on SW but no more getting to know anyone near where I live or having close friends . That way no one can hurt me again .

@Rhodes 57 - I think the unhappiness you describe in the original post arises from your tying your own self worth to the history & politics of Rhodesia. If you think it through you could realize there's no logic in being personally proud of a country, whether you were born there or not.

All countries have some attributes past & present that merit admiration; and others that merit horror. Admire or despise each as the case may be, but what reason could one have for expressing pride in things he had no part in? Why feel a need to pride your self about the actions of other people long dead - because you were born in the same country and liked living there? Makes no sense.

Be proud of your own 'good deeds'. Love what you love about your 'heritage' and hate what is hate-worthy. They are NOT you.
