I Am Going to Say Something Controversial

In my experience, people on the political far-left rarely look deeply at the issues - they just react to what's on the surface. Homeless people are needy, give them money. I don't like what these people are saying, so lets try to silence them. The fact that silencing people's freedom of speech is part of a larger issue never even enters most of their brains.

There are stupid people on both sides, an extreme of anything isn't what we need.

Yeah, but in my experience, the stupid people on the far-right tend toward racism and closed-mindedness, rather than shallow and reactive thinking.

@BlueDiver: judging someone by their skin colour alone isn't shallow or reactive lol?

@BlueDiver: and how is that better exactly?

@Kuronekko: exactly. Unreal.

It's not better - it's just different. Heh, talk to most racists or homophobes and they'll give you a whole laundry-list of pseudo statistics and religious passages to justify what they believe. Their thought process on the subject may be twisted, biased, stupid and destructive, but it's anything but shallow.

@BlueDiver: Using some fairytale as an excuse is pretty shallow..and most can't form an argument so they resort to name calling very quickly in my experience. I'm not sure why this is something to argue about really..

@Kuronekko: I realize that SW is not exactly the gold standard of reasoned political debate, but this is a new low: racist politcal thought may be wrong, but it's not shallow? Mmmkay 🙄

@luckranger71: Most ridiculous thing I've read all day...and I've been HERE all day.

Great, we've gotten to the point where you've stopped arguing with me, and are instead showing haughty contempt for my opinion before I even get a chance to respond to you. But what should I expect from someone so arrogantly closed-minded that they unilaterally call all religious texts "fairy tales" as if that's just an accepted fact.
