Trump's fda is refusing the mrna influenza vaccine from Moderna

Current flu vaccines are manufactured by growing viruses in eggs, a process that usually takes 6-8 months. mRNA vaccines can be manufactured in 1-2 months.

That means mRNA vaccines can offer a faster more flexible response to an emerging strain of flu, admittedly at higher cost. mRNA vaccines would thus be the preferred choice for the elderly. Meanwhile economies of scale will bring down the mRNA cost.

Could it be that traditional makers of egg-based vaccines don't want faster more modern competition??

Please don't take away one of the most effective tools in preventative medicine from the half of the country that voted against this.
