I Am Going to Say Something Controversial

I wish I was anorexic. I wish I could have an eating disorder because I'd finally be skinny and pretty and someone would finally want me. I've tried to go the anorexia route in the past (teens and early 20s) but I didn't get very far. I think I would go a day or two and then give in. What an awful world we live in. Why do I always get the short end of the stick in everything in life?

Uh... Why won't you just wish to work out and be fit? 馃槄

@Chaoshead I have been working out but the progress is so damn slow and it looks like nothing has changed so far.

@IAmNothing It takes time. Have you been dieting as well? You can't just do one or another, and you probably won't see drastic changes unless you start exercising at least 4 times a week. 5 is optimal though.

@Chaoshead I've been eating one meal a day. Mainly soup

@IAmNothing that's what you're doing wrong, idiot.

@IAmNothing Yeah, that probably makes it worse. Dieting doesn't mean eating less, in fact sometimes it can mean eating more. What happens when you eat only one meal a day is that it slows down your basal (or resting) metabolism since it's trying to conserve food. What you want to eat is multiple small meals throughout the day (but don't eat at night). And you want them to be high in protein and low in carbs.

If you look online there are TONS of easy foods you can find. Like, try having a greek yogurt with fruit for breakfast. Something light for lunch, and for dinner you could have fish and rice or something like that. But just look up foods with low-carbs, low-sugar and high-protein.

If you do that and work out 4-5 times a day you WILL see results. Though it depends on your workout too.

@Chaoshead I can't have yogurt I have lactose problems. I never eat breakfast I don't have time in the morning and I am not sacrificing sleep for it. You have to eat less not more.

@IAmNothing That's not how it works. What you eat is more important than how much you eat. You can look up any dietary website online and they'll tell you what I told you. Only eating one food a day is not going to help you lose weight. You might not gain weight but your body's metabolism is going to slow down since it's trying to conserve food, so you won't lose any.

If you eat throughout the day you'll maintain a higher metabolism and your body will burn food throughout the day. And like I said, just eat low-sugar, low-carbs, high-protein foods. It doesn't have to be yogurt. That was just one example.

@Chaoshead Sorry I just don't see how eating more and a lot is supposed to help anyone. That doesn't sound like it would make you lose weight.

@IAmNothing Let me put it like this. When you're not working out you are still losing calories. This is called your resting metabolic rate. If you only eat once a day, you will have a low-resting metabolic rate. So, lets say your Metabolic Rate is 70. That means you burn 70 calories an hour without exercise. If you eat only once a day, your body is going to go into conserving food mode (it's a survival instinct). So instead of burning 70 calories an hour you'll burn 40.

But if you spread your meals throughout the day your body will feel invigorated. So you might lose 100 calories per hour. See how that would lead to losing weight?

Don't think of it as eating more. You can eat the same amount as you are now but spread that calorie intake throughout the day rather than eating it all at the same time. Another thing that raises your basal metabolic rate are things that increase your energy like coffee.
