I Am Going to Say Something Controversial

The best summary of the French victory in the World Cup I have read:

'The French are winning the World Cup, but losing their country'. Spot on 👍

The French team did not look French to me at all. And those post match riots in France are a huge disgrace. The rest of the world watching them can only shake our heads at the decay that has eaten away at this once glorious country. Sad really.

@novembermoon It is good that these riots are seen all over the world. It is good that people compare them with, for example, the attitude of Japanese fans cleaning the stadium when their national team played. And that they wonder WHY. Why such differences? Why did France come to this point?

@Cierzo at some point, people must realise that people of different cultures bring with them habits and when they form communities, there are social mores formed too. When these communities breed like rabbits in a particular place, that place will take on that kind of character. It is not rocket science, but I think certain leaders are in denial. Rioting, looting, raping...sounds like Africa.

@novembermoon What you say is common sense. But sadly it is the least common here. Many people have been brainwashed to feel guilty of sins they did not commit. Many people have grown up, and are educated, in an atmosphere of self-inflicted hate towards their country and their culture.

@novembermoon @Cierzo it’s like the African migrants we have here, there are some that have made new lives here and a few have become local athletes even AFL players. But sadly as mentioned some of them being accustomed to their violent culture for so long especially when same nationality but different tribes migrate and mingle and continue their past beef here. But there is good and bad in every culture being said including my own.

@SW-User Immigration has always happened. But if it comes in too large amounts, more immigrants are religiously radicalised and (very important), empowered by local NGOs to look for a welfare they are told they are entitled to, instead of working to earn a living, this is what you get.

We don’t have a mass migration crisis like Europe or US but we get it coming but it’s stopped in the waters. But they end up locked up at Manus island for “processing” taking control of the problem of filtering out the bad and good is one thing but the way our government handles the detainees is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.@Cierzo

@SW-User Australian immigration police has been criticised for being cruel, but, if someone tries to enter Australia ilegally, they know what they risk.

@Cierzo when people migrate, they take on the host country's norms and ways of life. They do not attempt to change it. On an individual level, immigrants should have awareness that they are immigrants and behave discreetly. What we see in Europe seems to be that they are shouting and demanding to be treated the same. And they bring with them such brutish behavior. They take advantage of Europeans' compassion and openness. I hope people there wake up.

@Cierzo yes true, but they could handle it more humainely, paedos in prison get treated better than them.
It’s impossible to smuggle yourself in here, our border is all ocean.

@novembermoon Those commonsensical things you say is what most people used to think in the world I grew up, regarding both inmigrants coming to my country, and those who had to emigrate.

But at some point this logic was blown away. We started being bombarded with messages about how cultural enriching immigration is. Also with messages telling us that immigrants come as a consequence of wars 'we' cause ( I am still waiting for someone to tell me which wars I have caused), or by being colonisators centuries ago (again, which countries did I colonised?).
novembermoon · 51-55
@Cierzo people can choose their attitude towards the past. We don't pretend colonization did not happen. Here in SE Asia, much of the lands were taken by the British, the French, the Dutch, the Portuguese and Spanish and the Americans. But after they left, we built our country. To continue to whine about being exploited is to take the easy way out. It is so easy to act the victim. It is much much harder to plod on quietly, work hard and overtake your colonial masters in the first world. Respect must be earned.
