I'm going to jump into this fray even though I know better than to. Calling the imperial measurement "human" makes sense if and only if the vast majority of people's arms, legs, and feet are all the same length. That is pretty freaking far from the case. However, the vast majority of people do in fact have 10 fingers. Metric is all based on the number 10.
