Doubt they were kept there against their will or without some kind of compensation.

@Solenya That's one hell of an assumption to make. What do you think he was paying them?
@SW-User As is slavery. Well, I'm guessing they might have been paid in some form of currency redeemable in the factory if not elsewhere. Or perhaps he supported them and their families completely, as he seemed quite able to do in the end for Charlie and his family. Who knows :P

@Solenya Seems a bit suspicious to me....and we know what kinda "deals" Wonka likes to work out. All you have to do is look at his contract, his demeanor, et cetera, et cetera, ET CETERA!

It's not like I'm an oompaloompa who secretly hates my life and wants to get away from my slaver but can't say so directly since he monitors our social media and am instead trying to make you understand that you need to get me the hell out of here please or I will die like one of those poor children who they didn't put in the movies. That would just be ridiculous 🙃
