Yeah communal dinner worked our really well for Commie China didn't it? How many died in the famine that followed? A Chinese student told me upward towards 10 million because people had lost their motivation to produce enough food, full belly no care.

@cherokeepatti That's just one of the problems with socialism/comnniunism. It kills incentive unless it's at the end of a gun.
CierzoM
@cherokeepatti Exactly. When you expect from 'daddy state' to provide for everything, you lose motivation and become dependant on it. I am not the state supplying basic goods and services that allow people to survive, but what goes beyond survival must depend on people's character, attitude and work.

@katielass they would hatch up ideas that might have sounded good on paper but they didn't think it through to the end...another problem with the communal dinner thing was that they need bigger cooking pots so they had everyone collectively jump on board to donate metal items around their home to melt down into metal to be fashioned into cooking vessels. Mattress springs, old tools, utensils, even household cooking pans in perfectly good shape,etc....they found out after destroying these items and melting them into metal that the quality of the metal was so poor that the huge cooking vessels would crack.

@Cierzo They are telling the younger generation what they want to hear, some are too blind and stupid to understand when there's no motivation that there's no productivity....not to mention fairness for those who really want to contribute by working in whatever field they qualify and are talented at.
CierzoM
@cherokeepatti I am against basic income, but what outraged me more is his idea that income comes before work. Rights before duties.
cherokeepatti61-69, F
@Cierzo There were people hired at the university for summer work who would work till they got their first paycheck and then they'd quit and not even call in, some of them were alcoholics...how much work do you think would be done if they'd been paid in advance
CierzoM
@cherokeepatti Mmmm...zero maybe?
