These aren't my words, but damn if they aren't the truth.

. It prescribes an end state (classless, planned) that requires the means it eliminates (profit incentive, price discovery, private capital formation). That's a logical problem, not just an empirical one

@MethDozer yeah, suck their blood to feed yours. Let them pay for everybody's free ride, right? What do you do when the money runs out? What do you do when they leave? What do you do when they're gone and you can't tax them?. Your way just turns everybody into peasants.

I'm sure that you already know that I'm a conservative. However, like the Bavarian conservatives, the Christian Social Union, I'm much more at the center. Perhaps it's the Christian influence :)

@Gibbon I know. Was in a discussion with an American priest only this afternoon about this. But how will we get charity to replace state run programs? Are the wealthy going to be generous enough for the needy? Bill Gates gave away 9 billion this year but he has already 600 billion in the bank. He's the most generous one of the present lot, I think. Upon that the yearly interest payment on the US debt is gone more than one trillion. I don't think that the spending on arms will survive that either.

@val70 I'm only going to say this about politicians on both sides. They couldn't balance a checkbook if their life depended on it and they certainly don't have a clue about working with a balanced budget . they should all be fired. Left and right.
