I believe in the right to bear arms

Tazors, stun guns, brass knuckles, guns, knives swords, etc. I believe every person has the right to defend themselves or others if threatened. I don’t subscribe to this retreat until you are cornered nonsense. I am pro gun ownership but I’ll never be able to get a gun in states that run background checks because of mental illness not a criminal history. I really think it might make people think twice about targeting others if the likelihood that person had a defense weapon was very high. I also believe in taking self defense training like Krav Maga, boxing, etc. for example to train in what the defense armed forces use. It’s good to be able to defend yourself should you be attacked or being able to intervene if a predator is attacking someone else. I don’t want to be helpless and scared. My sister got a gun to help keep herself protected in TN.

Part of the problem with this mentality is you talk like you live in an active warzone. Statistically you are more likely to be shot if you have guns in your home.

And I am sorry but when dealing with lethal force facts matter more than feelings. There is zero evidence anywhere in the world where it has been studied that increased gun ownership leads to less crime and more safety. Based on the facts the trend goes the other way.

And think about it logically. There are already literally more guns than people in the USA? When is this magical safety tipping point supposed to happen? There is already 400 million guns. Is it magically going to change at 500 million, 600?, 700 million?....a billion?

Ask yourself why if gun ownership is so high and is supposed to make people safe why is the US the only country where you have people living through multiple active shooter incidents outside an active warzone?

And part of the problem with gun violence in the US is this macho bullshit.

And I don't even have an issue with self defense. But ask yourself something. Why do you feel so afraid in the first place?

And why does self defense with Americans have to be lethal force? Why is executing someone the default starting point?

I am not picking a fight here but simply pointing out some of the flaws in the assumptions behind these kinds of arguments.

I have tons of guns. Mostly inherited. Some, loke ths acp I have never shot. My "go to" guns for when the slunks were going after the chickens or i was partridge hunting were the 410 and the 22 unless I'm deer hunting, in which case it's the 30:06. I've only felt unsafe one time when up north fishing on the bridge by myself. Best solution there is to take someone with. In town, I avoid going anywhere in the big city after dark. I took karate classes with my son, so I'm not totally helpless.
