I don't believe in the second amendment, but I also don't believe in restricting mentally ill people from having guns unless it's something that would pose a specific safety threat to others; banning mentally ill people from having guns in general would deter folks from getting treatment.

if you are declared mentally unstable , there would be a hearing to evaluate your ownership rights concerning guns. And then a judge would order your guns confiscated .

once they call your mentally incapacitated your pretty much toast.😕 all your rights are in their hands🙃 and believe how easy it is.

Like most so called regular people are not violent, most mentally ill people are also not violent. It makes no sense to prohibit mentally ill people from having guns. In fact in real life it works like this, someone has guns, they have a mental problem, they do not seek help for their problem because they know it will put them on some kind of no gun list. So they keep their guns and do not seek help. That is not going to work out well.
