I Love Shotguns [Pro Gun]

Can't take all the credit as I stole the concept from a You tuber; trying to get my mossberg 500 close to a modern trench gun. Hogue 12lop and rubber foregrip, 7+1 capacity, got my m-7 bayonet! Now I'm waiting on my bayonet mount in the mail. Thinking of reinstalling a heatshield and XS big dot.

So take a perfectly functional and useful shotgun and turn it into a pointless piece of shit. Cuz it looks kewl like in video games.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@MethDozer no it's certainly not pointless its purpose driven.
MethDozer · M
@Powderflask A non-existent to the civilian and obsolete in the military purpose.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@MethDozer the bayonet is over the top but if you think civilians don't need defensive firearms we live in different universes. And shotguns are still used in every facet of law enforcement. Pumps I'll admit are a bit outdated but I chose the 500 for redundancy.

@Powderflask Again, take a useful shotgun and turn it into mall ninja garbage.

A trench gun isn't a defensive weapon. Its a purpose specific offensive weapon for clearing trenches. Trench warfare ended a 100 years ago. That bayonet does nothing but hinder you in civilian defensive situation.

@MethDozer I'm confused by what you call a defensive weapon then. This is my choice for the defense of my home and my life. Your right it is a combat designed weapon for close quarters, exactly like hallways and homes. Personally I'm not sure how having the bayonet hinders the function of my weapon.

@MethDozer oh hush ! Recreating the image of a WWI FIREARM from a functional modern weapon is a pretty cool trick . It will probably kick like a mule but it’s what he wants to do , in America ... land of the free?
MethDozer · M
@Powderflask No, no it isn't designed for situations like hallways and homes. That's exactly where the bayonet hinders you. You're adding unnecessary additional length to the weapon which means it is more cumbersome and nimble I'm close quarters. All for a mall ninja do-dad that is never going to be needed or used.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@MethDozer ok I can see that. I already said the bayonet was just because I wanted it. As far as never needed or used I completely disagree.
MethDozer · M
@TexChik No reason it will kick any more or less than stock original.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@MethDozer actually kicked quite a bit more because of reduced weight so I added more weight.

@Powderflask “shotguns are still used in every facet of law enforcement. “
What exactly do you mean ?!?
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@2cool4school sorry thank you for pointing that out. I meant division or group of law enforcement. Totally used the wrong word.
2cool4school · 46-50, F
@Powderflask no problem, not my intention. I do agree with you too. Very multipurpose from breaching doors And so many different types of purpose-made rounds to just about anything else a gun is used for.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@2cool4school agreed, that's why it's my #1 pick. The mossberg 500 is a platform I grew up with on the farm. Drops everything from squirrels to deer.

@Powderflask I got one for “home defense“ a few years back as I was starting my independence again after a long stint at my parents. Healing from a spinal surgery. It’s a 500 variant. My dad had a Remington 870 for work. But for my first shotgun I was told it’s about the same. I did learn after that for the style I have Remington’s design has a better safety position (who’d have guessed of all manufacturers of firearms Remington would be “safer” easier to reach with a pistol style grip. But that’s the only thing I’d change.
And reliable I’ve found in getting familiar. Slugs to birdshot I don’t know if safer is the word. But I feel prepared just in case.
I grew up in a law enforcement family and we had a crazy locksmith try and break in the first night with new locks. I woke to the burglar alarm. Guess he didn’t notice it or thought it was obsolete as he used a key 🔑 to enter left it in the lock.
My dad met him mid hallway and had a flashlight and an S&W .357
Now I hadn’t left my room to witness this. But I did hear my dad outside my window on the lawn yelling to stop or he’d shoot. Luckily it didn’t go that way and my dad was barefoot so he stopped at the sidewalk as he saw the mans direction of fleeing and I saw about 6 cars arrive and then get the description and head off. We prob had 10 units at our house but they did catch the suspect a few blocks over. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the flashlight that scared him off.
Guns don’t solve all problems. But when you have a problem that needs a gun I’d never want to know the feeling of not being prepared.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@2cool4school that's my whole lifestyle in a nutshell. Preparedness. As for the weapons part I do prefer the mossberg safety but I don't use pistol grip stocks. Also the mossberg ejector isn't welded in, just personal preference.
2cool4school · 46-50, F
@Powderflask hmm good to know. I learn something new daily.
I ended up getting a traditional style so I could get a 7+1 configuration.
