I Believe Few Understand Obamacare

First a bit of background. I am a second year college student majoring in Healthcare Management. I have studied the Affordable Care Act and it has some issues but blowing it up and taking away over 20 million peoples healthcare is not the answer.

Repeal and replace it but do it in a bipartisan manner. To just blow it up and not give those people an option is a horrible idea. It's time for these jerks we elected to work together and fix this.

Sadly none of this will happen. The GOP will kill it off and talk of replacing at a later date. That date will never come. The result is people will die.

Obamacare helped a few who could qualify for subsidies but for those of us who don't qualify we are forced to either pay thousands in premiums or pay the penalty. The fine the government told the supreme court was a tax so they could keep it. So now I pay a $1400 fine for the privilege of NOT having insurance because I can't afford the premiums. The plan was supposed to lower cost of Medicaid but they had to steal money from Medicare to subsidize it. They eventually stole from Social Security to sure up Medicare to keep it from tanking, at least temporarily. Both funds are broke and have only I-O-Us

Meanwhile I spend $600 more per month and get less. Where was that $600 supposed to come from, thin air?

I am on Medicare now but paid the penalty for 2 years prior to that. My wife still has no insurance so if it is still in force we will have to pay the penalty yet again. When they were first discussing Obamacare it was because Medicaid cost were soaring and there were still some who couldn't qualify. It was sold to America as a fix-all to solve that problem. It took back room deals and promises to lawmakers of many states to get the votes to pass it. The public was told the penalty was a fee but when they argued before the Supreme Court they said it was a tax (Forcing you to buy something from a private company or receive a penalty would be unconstitutional but they can levy a tax.) The scare tactic that the GOP is going to kill Social Security has been going on for 50 years. Doesn't matter much there is no real money left in the fund. It has been stolen and put into general funds, there is no Social Security Fund. That goes all the way back to Lyndon Johnson.
