Charlie Kirk said what you all know: where there is armed citizenry, there will be gun deaths.

You don't want it? You must hand in your weapons. The natural consequence of the Second Amendment is that some will die by gun. If you believe it is not worth it, why ought you own a gun?

That's not exactly what he said. He understood that firearm homicides will occur in an armed society. But he also understood that tyranny would reign if guns were banned and confiscated.

90% of all firearm homicides occur in America's inner cities.
90% of all firearm homicides are committed by felons, for whom gun possession is already illegal.
90% of all firearm homicides and caused by handguns, even though the media sensationalizes shootings with rifles.

He spoke the full truth .. it would take giving up all guns to have zero guns deaths. The problem is there is zero chance of that ever happening. There are millions of guns already in the hands of millions of criminals. The vast majority of those will not be collected in a legal turn in campaign.

That would leave our citizens unarmed against an armed army of criminals. No gun owner with a functioning brain wants that. So .. unwilling to face that outcome .. we accept some gun deaths will occur in order to retain the ability to defend ourselves.

That is not hypocrisy .. its realism. It is also a light on the naivete and fallacies that putting ever more gun laws in place will ever change this situation here.
