Has any gun owner here had to use it? What were the circumstances?

There is a column every month in the "American Rifleman" magazine. It has excerpts from news outlets from all over the country about how people used a firearm to defend themselves or others. There are 8 to twelve excerpts every month for many years!

Skunk got in the barn after the chickens. Also, used the 30-06 to get some venison. Wished id had one while fishing once. Some nutter showed up and i thought he was going to rob me.

One time my dad hooked a large snapping turtle while fishing. Had to shoot the turtle in order to retrieve his tackle (he was a poor kid at the time and could not afford to lose his tackle.)

Shot a man in the knees while attempting to steal my wifes phone. Sold that gun the evening I got it back from the police. Would be thief got 20 years plus 10 more
