I Think That When Guns Are Outlawed Only Outlaws Will Have Gun

2015, 13,200 people were killed by guns in the usa. In britain during the same period 15 deaths by gunfire. The USA has approximately 6 times the population of the UK.If we multiply the British figures by 6 we arrive at a figure of 90 British deaths as oppised to 13200 for the USA. The UK has strict and serious gun control, I suggest you all ponder these figures. It is not only the easy availability of guns which causes the damage, it is thev
American attitude to guns.

Our President tried to get some political traction out of the terrorist attack in London, by drawing attention to the use of knives. The next day, we had a mass murder in the US, nearly the same number of victims, using guns, more the following day, and so forth and so on.

I wish that guy would stop using Twitter, it's really embarrassing to the office of the Presidency, more so than Bill Clinton's dalliance with an intern.

Yes, we do have an embarrassing gun culture. Shooting is not a sport. Guns killed nearly 1,300 in the US last year.

@Northwest: Embarrassing gun culture? What is so embarrassing about the American gun culture (responsible law-abiding gun ownership and protection by the citizens of their life, property, and freedoms) or are you talking about the other gun culture in major cities across the US (illegal gun ownership, gang violence, and the most restrictions on legal ownership)

By the way shooting is a sport, it is in the Olympics. Guns killed no one last year. People used guns, knives, cars, baseball bats, and more to kill people.

@sunrisehawk:

You're repeating the same embarrassing propaganda the President used. If the terrorists in London had access to guns, the death tally would have been dozens, if not more. The President's attempt to use a horrific terrorist attach for political gain, backfired.

Consistent statistics, show that we have the highest per capita gun violence, within first world countries. You're trying to use it as a political tool, by pointing out that most gun death are due to criminal use. That's embarrassing.

Air rifle, air pistol, .22 caliber pistol and rifle, and skeet are Olympic sports. 50 caliber, AR-15s, AK-47s, and other assault weapons, are not Olympic events. The bulk of owners of these weapons, have never been hunting either. That's embarrassing.

@Northwest: And you use the usual embarrassing anti-gun points that the left always use. We do have serious differences, but your arguments are no better than the President. I am only political in this post as supporting the governing document of the US, the Constitution.

I've read a lot of analysis of guns in both Great Britain and the US. There is a lot of facts that are ignored by both sides. American has been proclaimed a more violent nation, yet brawls and other violence at sporting events isn't an American problem compared to most of the world.

A gun is a gun, .22 or larger calibers, all are dangerous and need to be handled with care for their capabilities. Your term assault weapons is a biased and inaccurate description. A military assault weapon has major and significant differences to the weapons you mention that are available to civilians. What you are basically saying is big, scary guns are bad.

And lastly, the framers of our nation didn't put the second amendment in the constitution for hunting. They did so to ensure that the government would not take the liberties that they had so recently fought, and so many died for, to be taken from themselves or their descendants.

@sunrisehawk: Hmm, not really, but I'm not surprised you don't get it.

Let me repeat one more time: we have an embarrassing gun culture that causes tens of thousands of deaths every year. That's a fact, not a lefty issue and not a right issue.

You want to separate it into 'good deaths' and "criminal deaths', and throw gun control and the second amendment into it.

That's what the President did, and you still don't get it.

@Northwest: Yes I do get it. You don't particularly care for our President, and you don't care for the second amendment. And that is your right to do so.

@sunrisehawk:
Yes I do get it.
No, you still don't see the full picture.
You don't particularly care for our President
No I don't, and it has nothing to do with our embarrassing gun culture.
you don't care for the second amendment
I did not say anything about the second amendment. YOU DID, and you're still, in a typical knee jerk reaction, trying to make it about the second amendment.
