So the vetting system isn't working. The problem in Paris wasn''t that they didn't have gun control (Guns are illegal there) So why don't we work on solutions that might actually help and not just make some people feel good. In most states to buy a licensed gun (conceal carry) you have to take a class, pass a test and undergo a background check. When I was a kid students at school had gun racks in their trucks and we didn't have mass shootings. It was easier to get a gun then than now You could send them through the mail until Kennedy got assassinated. We have always had guns but not always mass shootings. We used to control who came into the country but not anymore. YES a president can cease immigration of a particular group, Jimmy Carter had a cease on immigrants from IRAQ during the hostage crises. FDR rounded up German and Japanese citizens and put them in camps in World War II.
