I can't remember the name of the two towns in the US that literally banned guns years ago but I'm certain someone here does. In revolt another town instituted mandatory ownership. You can guess the end result. The two towns crime levels went trough the roof especially robbery and home breakins. The crooks knew they had free reign.

@Gibbon Washington DC and Chicago both banned handguns, and both rulings were overturned by SCOTUS. Heller v DC in 2008, and McDonald v Chicago in 2010. Neither ban led to a reduction in crime, and it was Scalia's majority opinion in 2008 that defined the 2nd Amendment.

@BizSuitStacy Yeah I'm close enough to DC it's local news. I remember those bans. I am also not far from where they caught the DC snipers. But I'm going to research those ban stories. I do remember Rush Limbaugh having a field day with both towns.
