You needed gun control 50 years ago. Now you need a new place to live if you want to feel safe..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman It is true gun control laws cannot stop all shootings. But enacting gun control now will save many lives.

@badminton After 2 mass shootings in a few days and and more talk of gun control there will be yet another run on gun sales. Of course anything is better than nothing. But its not good enough to make any significant difference. Like wearing a seat belt in an air crash. I am sure it has saved a life or two..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman The gun situation in the U.S. is largely about gun industry profits.
In the past people would typically purchase a small revolver for protection. Most guns bought by civilians were sporting type rifles and shotguns.
Then the gun industry realized they could make a lot more money by selling the public military-type guns like the AR-15 and semi-auto pistols with large-capacity magazines. After that shootings much more frequent and more deadly.

To prevent Congress enacting gun-control laws that would curb their profits the gun industry bribed politicians, on the federal and state level, with 'campaign contributions'. The gun industry has subverted our political process with dark money. I believe removing the chokehold of the gun industry on Congress requires real campaign finance reform laws. Once they are prevented from bribing our politicians then we can make real progress on enacting sane gun control laws.

@badminton Absolutely correct at every turn.. But those laws are a long way to getting Americans to actually hand back their guns.. In my country one large murderous event was enough to have the whole contry say "enough" and back the federal government in banned EVERY semi auto long gun and pump adction shotgun in cil\vilan hands and make it next to impossible for anyone without a legitimate use to continue to hold a firearm of any kind. (Home protection was NOT a legitimate reason.) So there was an amnesty and buy back schedule and it worked. Sure there are criminals with guns. But no one goes to school, church or Walmart and wonders if they are safe,,😷

@whowasthatmaskedman It is not practical for me to leave the U.S. And even if I could become an ex-pat, I think it would be the wrong thing to do. If all Americans who want to better the U.S. skip town then we are leaving the country to the amoral corporations, corrupt politicians and fanatics, and the U.S. will be an even worse danger to the rest of the world than it is now.

We can't be 'fair weather patriots'. We have to stand by the country and try to improve it in bad times as well as good.

@badminton I hear what you are saying and it is of course your right to choose.. But I cant help but hear the echo of Germanys Jews in the 1930s.. Swimming against the current when you can hear the falls loudly may not be enough..😷
You were doing a nice job of stating your case but as usual you couldn’t help yourself from losing all credibility by going over the top. When you learn when to stop your commentary will stop being ignored. @whowasthatmaskedman

@jackjjackson You are probably right about the credibility. But I get so sick of preaching to Americans and trying to be subtle at the same time..It takes being hit in the face with a sack of dead rats to get their attention..😷
