Why do Americans vote away a woman's right to abortion, but they won't vote gun control?

If little unborn babies are of such value, why aren't the children being gunned down at school of equal value?

Gun control does not take away the right to bear arms! It means that you will need to be checked against mental illness, or some kind of desire for vengeance in an undisclosed situation is monitored. Safe children means a safe future!
