Even The Flu Is Political-

How long do you suppose it will be before the left starts forcing things to cancel or be closed?

I don't mean to minimize this thing, but it really seems to me that the left in particular is kinda going overboard. Just like they go overboard during any other crisis situation.

When there is a shooting - they call for gun control before the dead are at room temperature.

When the president makes a phone call, they deny thaat transcripts are real and make shit up.

When their candidate loses, they make shit up and try to impeach the winner.

When a storm is brewing, it's named the storm of the century and reminded that if we would simply adopt an 1850's life style, everything would be fine.

This time its illness. Cold and flu season is at least as old as I am. I remember people getting colds and the flu for as long as I can remember. Sometimes it was reportedly worse than other years. Do you remember the swine flu epidemic - 2009? I don't either - not really. I mean I remember hearing about it. I looked it up and I guess Obama's CDC never did a complete synopsis of it. But later they estimated that between 7,070 and 13,930 deaths were attributable to H1N1 flu from April to 14 November 2009. And nobody panicked. Life went on.

But, Trump is the president now. And they never will let a crisis go to waste. All kinds of stuff has closed down and been cancelled already - and you know it's pressure from the media and the left. And, it's having the desired effect - hurting the economy - Trumps trump card.

So, how long before they try to legislate forced closings, behavior modification for all of us, to stick a fork in the economy, once and for all?

I'm tempted to jump all over your post, but there's some good stuff there.

Left/right aside, a life threatening disease most lethal to the elderly is a crisis uniquely well suited to exploit against Trump, who has difficulties with compassion, a tendency to mock the sick, weak and dead, and who can't help but remind us at every turn that money is everything to him, especially when he can get some of it.

@MistyCee Hmm, I don't see any good stuff in your comment.
Older folks are a big demographic for Trump.
Why would he want to kill them off?
@Budwick I'm not saying he'd want to kill them off as much as saying it's easy for his opponents to cash in on making it look like he's indifferent to them and is more interested in money than taking care of them.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@MistyCee And other than you and the entire left echoing this siren song, have you seen any evidence that it's true?

Anything at all?
@Budwick You're right on the echo part.

A couple of things that have been echoed: Trump making fun of that reporter, Trump tossing paper towels, Trump criticizing McCain after he died, Trump talking about money after the Khashoggi mess, and focusing on the economic effects of the virus instead of lives.

My point is, it fits the theme, and not even that Trump necessarily did anything wrong when he did these things. (I tend to think they weren't good, but that's beside the point).
Budwick · 70-79, M
@MistyCee And here is the left being hysterical over not being hysterical!
@Budwick I guess. Back to your original point about stuff being closed, that'll fit in too, if they can sell having no NBA games as Trump's fault for his incompetent response. Mix in the fact that he's exempting the UK where his golf courses are, and it almost seems like political malpractice not to jump on it some.

Of course, it might backfire, but in Trump world, it's probably worth the risk since he called the virus a Democratic hoax almost preemptively and would surely say they were over hyping it even if they didn't.

Obviously, there's another whole side to not letting Trump ignore an inconvenient disease and do nothing, but that wasn't my point, and I think even his people would have eventually convinced him a President who wants to get re-elected needs to make it look like he's trying to do his job.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@MistyCee In fact, he is doing his job so well - the virus thing is under control. So, all the make believe horse shit you weave into your rhetoric, is pretty much meaningless.

But, I do thank you for stopping by and helping to prove my point.

@Budwick Totes under control 👌
akindheart · 61-69, F
@MistyCee his incompetent response? unlike obama who failed to get involved on the H1N1 virus? it boggles the mind how you can intertwine your dislike which is irrational with what is really going on. me thinks that you Dems should have paid more attention to the candidates (where you guys failed miserably) and issues because TRUMP has this under control. as usual.
TexChik · F
@MistyCee nah ... he just mocks libs ... which is fine ! 🤷🏻‍♀️
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@akindheart The feds did get involved in the '09 pandemic - which is part of the reason why we only had a moderately severe flu season that year.

Swine flu has a CFR of ~.01-.08% btw, the relative threat between these should not be even remotely compared.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@QuixoticSoul we had close to 12-14,000 deaths before Obama took action.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@akindheart This is false.
TexChik · F
@QuixoticSoul no , you just don’t like the truth
@Budwick You're welcome.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@TexChik That actually just demonstrates that I was right. Maybe think about it a little.
TexChik · F
@MistyCee Mc Cain was a Rino POS , in Trump’s defense
@TexChik He really did a heck of a job with little Marco, low energy Jeb, and other Republicans, remember?
@TexChik But not a "lib." Kind of funny how all non-Trumpists start to look alike after awhile.
@akindheart Would you prefer "seemingly incompetent response"?

The efficacy is still in question, but will you give me that being contradicted by the experts and screwing up the trade thing last night, for example, don't look so good.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@MistyCee i see this as every opportunity to twist facts and bash Trump. so no, not conceding. I think he took very decisive action with this virus. I will look into the trade deal
@akindheart look here on the "clarifications"

@Budwick Do you still think this 'virus thing' is under control? Are you that stupid?
